SCOTS, ENGLISH and DANISH

Scots is closer to Danish than English is
There has been a greater influence (loan words) from Scandinavian languages than in English.
Some of the sound changes that have formed English (and German) have not affected Scots (or Scandinavian).

Scots uses the same word as Danish, English another one:
